Graduation Speech

Welcome friends, family, teachers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and fellow graduates. I want to start off by saying thank you to all the teachers I've had throughout my past nine years here at District 67. From teaching me the ABC's to helping me solve a five-step math problem, I am truly honored to have been taught by you. I want to thank you for always believing in me and never giving up for all the students here. Next, I want to thank my parents for pushing me to the limits. All those lectures paid off. If it weren't for you, I don't know how I would be here. Now, my one-of-a-kind classmates. You guys are all so amazing in your own ways which is why our class is so special. Most of us have gone to school together since Kindergarten, and even though some of you just came this year, it feels as if I've known you since Kindergarten. The memories we have made in our time at District 67 will be cherished forever. Our Camp MacLean trip was really fun and I don't think i

Guess what? It's a Free Post.

The end of the year is coming by so quickly. We have so many things going on in the next couple of weeks, including:  Same old boring homework and projects Camp MacLean (YAY!!) Finals *cries* 8th Grade Graduation Dance Awards Ceremony Graduation Ceremony I'm so excited yet very nervous for some of these upcoming events. Instead of talking about all the booooooooorrrrrrrrrrinnnnnng work we still need to cover, I'm going to start with Camp MacLean. I seriously can't wait to go to camp and get away from school but still be with my friends. I recall that last year's trip to camp was so fun and I can't wait to create many more memories this year. The Finals are also coming up. Yes, as soon as May 22nd. I'm not really a nervous test-taker, but that can change if you put a science test in front of me. Let's just say science isn't my strongest subject. I'm not really that nervous for most of the other tests but Finals still aren't the best

Endings and Begginings

This is one of my favorite quotes. When you want to be something or have something, you can't be like Aladdin and ask a Genie to give it to you. You have to start small and eventually you will grow. Just like a tree. It starts off with a tiny seed and it eventually turns into this huge thing that you use for shade during the summer. I really want to become a doctor when i'm older, but like I said, I can't just ask a Genie for my doctors degree, so I have to work for it. And it starts now. It might not seem huge but going to school is the first step and it is a small beginning compared to writing up prescriptions and helping patients. I feel like a job as a doctor is a big thing and just as the quote says, "Big things often have small beginnings." :)

It's Complicated.

There are many things that come to my mind as complicated. Besides waking up at six everyday for school, I think trying to accomplish a skill in a sport is probably one of the most complicated things in my life. Here's why. I started playing volleyball in the 3rd grade, when I saw my older cousin play. I thought, "Hey, that looks like fun." Ever since then, I've played volleyball and it has always been my favorite sport. Like most starters, I started out with underhand serves and simple bumps. I was scared to set because I had small fingers and I was afraid that I'd break one. After learning the basics (including setting), I tried digging and diving for the ball. I was afraid to throw myself towards the ball at first, but then I got it. Of course accomplishing these so-called basic skills seems like it's a piece of cake for you. Haha. Try it. Now, on to the most complicated skill, in my opinion. OVERHAND SERVING. For me, I've had the most trouble wit

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MAY 19!

Wait for it... EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING MOVIE COMES OUT ON MAY THE 19! If you have not already read the book Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon, shame on you. I can't even begin to tell how good the book is. I strongly recommend you read it after you hear me explain why I'm so excited to see the movie. If you haven't already figured, the movie comes out on May 19, which isn't really that far away if you think about it. I finished the book in about two days, for many reasons. The book is written in many creative ways. Some pages are notes, some are short chapters, and others are words written in swirls. The context of the book and the way it's written makes you want to continue reading it. Here I have attached the wonderful movie trailer for you. Please read the book first. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjbG_NHjmdM

Tribute

When I think of the word amazing, I think of my dad. My dad is always determined to make me and my siblings better people every day. He has taught me right from wrong and teaches me the most important things I need in my life. I am very thankful for my dad. He is one of my greatest role models. I hope I can grow up to be as smart and patient as my dad is. From pointing out driving techniques in the car to simply helping me with my math homework, he's always helping me. During my first amusement park ride, I had 6 tickets left for myself only but my dad came on the ride with me since I was afraid. I can't thank my dad enough because that was the scariest ride experience I've ever had. My dad is always pushing me to do better and because of him, I have succeeded in many things. Thanks Dad.

Magical Meeting

If I could spend a weekend with three famous people, they would be Drake, Jordan Larson, and Taylor Kinney. Drake is a famous rapper/singer, Jordan Larson is a USA Volleyball player, and Taylor Kinney is one of my favorite actors. I would want to meet Drake because he is one of my favorite singers and most of his songs are really good. I would want to meet him at one of his concerts and not just watch his concert but actually meet him and talk to him. His concerts look so lit. I would also ask him why he dropped his album today (March 18, 2017) instead of in December when it was supposed to drop. Just curious because I've been waiting! MORE LIFE. I would love to meet Jordan Larson. She is number 10 on the USA Women's National Volleyball Team. She is a huge role model to not just me, but many other volleyball players. It would be great to meet her and just talk about anything and not just volleyball. She seems like an amazing person on and off the court. I would like to meet

Favorite Field Trip

My favorite field trip I've ever been on has to be the fie ld trip to Camp MacLean. I think this is my favorite field trip because of the activities and my cabin members. I had a great time doing all the activities. My favorite activity was the rock climbing. I liked the rock climbing because I like to reach the top. I also liked the fishing because 1) I've never gone fishing before and 2) it was fun when the fish took the worm and left. The only thing I didn't like was putting the worm on the hook. Blegh. I also liked my cabin even though none of my close close friends were in my cabin. I remember falling off the top bunk and landing on a suitcase because there were 3 other people sitting on that same bunk. The funniest part was when Gina, MacKenna, and I stayed up and heard snores. I can't wait to go to Camp MacLean again this spring. Overall, the trip was very fun and the adventures were even funner.

Movie Review on Home Alone

Image
Home Alone 2 (Lost in New York) I've watched this movie several times and it never gets old. Home Alone 2 is my favorite movie out of all the Home Alone movies made. It makes me laugh every time. I love watching it during the Holidays because that is the main setting of the movie. If you haven't already watched the second Home Alone movie, I highly recommend you do. This movie is about a huge family getting ready to spend the Holidays in Miami, Florida. Kevin and his siblings are singing a Christmas carol with his church. When it is Kevin's turn to sing a solo, the crowd erupts with laughter. His brother Buzz starts humiliating him and Kevin gets angry and ruins the whole performance. This leads to Kevin not wanting to spend Christmas in a tropical place anyway. The McCallisters' end up in a rush to get their flight, but nine year old Kevin McCallister confuses his dad with another man that is wearing the same jacket. Instead of boarding the plane to Fl

Music Blog

This music quote can't be any truer! I can remember the lyrics to a song I listened to 5 years ago but I can never remember what we talked about in class yesterday. I can relate to this quote, especially when I just listened to a song, I sing the lyrics all day. One of my favorite hobbies is listening to music. Music is my escape because it relaxes me. Also, I love listening to music while doing homework and I like to read with faint music playing in the background. Surprisingly, it helps me concentrate on what I am doing. Back to the quote! I'm sure many people can relate to this quote or saying because for me, every time a throwback song comes on the radio or is being played, I usually know all the lyrics to the song, even though the last time I had listened to that song was years ago! Pretty sure many others can relate as well!

My 3 major goals if I was a president would be..

My three major goals if I was a president would be 1) to create peace with all the countries around the world, 2) to provide food, shelter, and education to everyone, and 3) to adjust college/school fees so that everyone will have the opportunity to finish school and live a great life. I think it's important to have peace with other countries because when you don't have peace, you're country is at risk. The other countries may do something bad to the people in your country. I would like to provide food, shelter, and education to everyone in need because i feel bad for those without those needs. Also, many people die of starvation and I would like to change that. Lastly, I would reduce college/school fees to provide education for everyone. Some people don't finish school because they know they can't afford it. I would like to change that as president.

My Special Gift

When I was younger, I had an obsession with Angelina Ballerina. So when I was 8, I got an Angelina Ballerina doll, Angelina Ballerina bed sheets, and multiple story books. My parents still have the video of when I opened those presents. When I watch the video, I always laugh so hard. My reaction is priceless. I remember that every time my mom had to wash the sheets, I would cry. My favorite thing when I was younger was to read the books in my Angelina Ballerina sheets.  I still have the doll and the books, but I have no idea what happened to those sheets. What's funny is that I would never believe that I was obsessed with her if it weren't for the video, since I've never done ballet, which is odd. :)

About my name!

My name is Judith, though i prefer Judy. I never really knew what my name meant. Judith comes from a city in Israel. Judea. I know for sure that my parents didn't name me Judith because of that though. I was named after my great grandmother. Before I was born, my parents wanted to name me Elizabeth but instead went for Judith. Most people call me Judy, of course. When I hear my name, it means to go outside and put my volleyball away. Other times it means to put my plates in the sink. When I'm around my friends, its usually followed by a pointing finger at the pencil i dropped, or a joke they wanted me to hear, and my favorite, some words of wisdom.
